HEADIN' HOME
We did it all in five fun-filled days. We shopped, ate, laughed, gambled, did some sightseeing, changed our clothes (some days three times), took pictures at every turn, and enjoyed every minute of it. We were among 1,323 other red hat ladies all of whom seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as we did. Ohio was represented by 74 attendees. We started out our five-day adventure with a riverboat cruise on the Tom Sawyer. It was a beautiful night and after we enjoyed the dinner buffet, we sat on the upper deck of the boat to see the St. Louis skyline and the magnificent St. Louis Arch. Day two encompassed the St. Louis City Tour & Forest Park Lunch which Joanne and Glenda took. Sylvia and I shopped at the Mayfair Hotel, where we saw Betty and Ray Clark's daughter, Carol, at her boutique. We joined Joanne and Glenda for lunch at Forest Park. We enjoyed the Welcome Reception in the evening and stayed for the late night movie "Meet Me in St. Louis." Day three found us in one of the "Playshops" painting tiles. A fun project. Anne Abernathy, oldest woman to participate in the Olympics, was the keynote speaker at the Afternoon Tea. She is giving up the Olympics but will try to be a participant in the "Survivor" show. We all enjoyed the "Puttin' on the Glitz" banquet in the evening and dressed to the hilt in all of our finery. There were at least 12 others with the same dress as Sylvia and I! Day four found us putting on our pajamas for the Pajama Breakfast. Janie Jasin was our motivational speaker. In the evening we all dressed for the Red Hat Society's 2006 World Fair. We enjoyed games, popcorn, cotton candy, ice cream, hot dogs, chips, etc. Sunday morning we boarded the bus and headed home, anxious to go to the 2007 convention in Nashville, TN, at the Opryland Hotel.
On the bus. Tired but happy -- Joanne & Glenda, Clair & Ailene, Shirley & Sylvia.
AND SO IT ENDED...
